Vercel will begin charging every Pro team $0.10 per GB-month for Deployment Storage and Functions Storage. Deployments older than 30 days will be deleted starting Oct. 23 unless a team opts out first (Vercel changelog, Oct. 9, 2026).

What changed

Existing Pro teams had been outside the storage meter. The Oct. 9 changelog entry ends that. Billing start dates vary by team. Vercel said it is emailing each team its date.

The retention window moves too. Deployments older than 30 days will be deleted from Oct. 23 unless the team changes its retention settings beforehand. Teams already set to 30 days or shorter are unchanged. Deleted deployments cannot be used for rollback, Vercel said.

A second Oct. 9 entry makes 30 days the default for new Pro teams. They can pick a longer period in team settings. Vercel said coding agents have raised deployment frequency and the amount of stored history. Shorter retention limits that cost.

What teams can do

Vercel’s retention policy sets separate periods for pre-production, production, canceled and errored deployments. Per-project storage shows on the Usage page. Vercel’s storage guide suggests removing unneeded build files, moving large assets to Vercel Blob and shrinking Function bundles.

Our take

Vercel is extending a meter it already applies lower down the ladder. On Sept. 16 it said Hobby teams over the 10GB cap lose deployments immediately. It pointed them to Pro’s $0.10 per GB rate. Now Pro teams pay that rate too.

Deletion on Oct. 23 is opt-out. A team that never reads the email loses every rollback target older than a month. Teams that pin an old production build for audits or slow-moving clients should set retention before that date. Then check the Usage page for what the meter will charge.
