Firerun is an independent newsroom covering Firebase, Supabase, Vercel and Netlify. This page explains what we collect when you visit firerun.io, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect an email address only if you choose to subscribe, we measure traffic with privacy-first analytics, and we don't sell your data or run advertising trackers.
What we collect
- Your email, if you subscribe. When you submit the newsletter form, we store the email address you give us so we can send news updates. It lives in a Cloudflare key-value store. A hidden honeypot field helps us reject spam bots; it isn't used to track you.
- Aggregate analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which articles people read. It is cookieless, collects no personal information, and does not follow you across other sites.
- Google Analytics, only if you accept. If you accept cookies in our consent banner, we also use Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies to measure repeat visits. It stays switched off (no cookies) until you accept, and you can change your mind at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
- Your theme preference. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- Standard server logs. Like any website, our host processes basic request data such as IP address and user agent to serve pages and guard against abuse.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your data, we don't run advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, and we don't build a profile of you across the web. The only cookies we set are Google Analytics measurement cookies, and only after you opt in.
Who processes your data
The site runs on Cloudflare, which provides our hosting, the key-value store that holds newsletter emails, and our analytics. Your data is handled subject to Cloudflare's own terms and privacy commitments.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the email we hold for you, or to delete it, at any time — emailcontact@firerun.io. Once the newsletter begins sending, every issue will include an unsubscribe link.
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject analytics cookies. Reject keeps Google Analytics cookieless. You can revisit the choice any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
Children
Firerun is written for developers and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
